Songs For Children are proud to present HINDS Singapore debut 11th May !

With thirty sold-out shows on their UK/European tour and a US tour that kicked off with a sold out show NYC Bowery Ballroom, (Tickets were gone a month before and Heartbroken fans queued down the blocks and were only appeased when Hinds announced a free show At Rough Trade) the only way to describe what is happening with Hinds right now is that they’re f***king killing it!

No girl group in recent years has caused the furore that Hinds has. Four girls under 25 from Spain and a teenage drummer from Holland didn’t seem the most likely break out band of 2015 but in a jaded musical landscape of hipster beards and bland synth-pop tunes that screamed made for sync, Hinds ramshackle, youthful energy and couldn’t give a f**k attitude was clearly what the world was clearly waiting for. There’s no pretence or artifice to Hinds live performance it is straight up rock n roll, bursting with energy as 4 star The Guardian review  of their London show puts it.

‘’Hinds tonight unleash rock in all its unvarnished, adolescent energy, and what begins with a groan goes out with a bang.’’

Their exuberant live shows and audience reaction mirror the magic of early shows from The Ramones, The Strokes and The Libertines so it’s no surprise they have supported the last two, along with The Vaccines and The Black Lips.  Although the girls cite their influences as more recent contemporary Mac DeMarco and have a similar goof ball lo-fi appeal.

Hinds formed while Carla Cosials and Ana Perrote were at college and were hanging out in the garage/lo-fi Madrid scene. After releasing two tracks ‘Bamboo’ and ‘Trippy Gum’  under the band name ‘Deers’ they were named band of the week by The Guardian and championed by NME. After changing their name to Hinds due to legal reasons, they added friends Ade Martin on bass and Amber Grimbergen on drums.

Hinds embarked on a world tour in 2015 playing festivals SXSW, Benicassim, Best Kept Secret, Dot to Dot and this year have embarked on a second world tour playing Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury, Bestival and more  later this year. The buzz for Hinds live shows has been incredible, the infectious dymamic between Cosials and Perrote’s hazy Spanish accented vocals which just seem to playfully trip over each other have an undeniable charm. But although it seems like these girls are holding the biggest party in every town, Hinds take their role seriously and are determined to create a more postive space for young women to create lo-fi music. As Perrote and Martin state“If you’re a woman in the music industry, it’s impossible to be there floating like a fish, expecting that nothing will touch you. In some way, at some point, it will happen,” Martin says. “But we’re gonna make it right!”

The hype for Hinds debut album has been huge ”Leave Me Alone” was released on January 8, 2016, on the label Lucky Number. It features 12 tracks, including the brand new single “Garden”, previous singles such as “Bamboo”, “Castigadas en el granero” and “Chili Town”, and several new tracks. The crictics have lauded the album recieving great reviews from NME, Pitchfork, Line of Best Fit, Consequence of Sound, Drowned in Sound to name but a few.

Don’t miss this chance to see one of the hottest bands on the planet!
